This immersive workshop spans critical aspects of mouse embryo generation and genetic manipulation for new model development.
Hands-on Sessions Include:
- How to generate mouse embryos via in-vitro fertilization and natural mating with oviduct flushing
- CRISPR reagent delivery for novel mouse model development via electroporation of zygotes
- Surgical and non-surgical (NSET) embryo transfer
- Embryo cryopreservation and recovery (controlled rate and vitrification methods)
- Microcapillary transfer pipetting
- Embryo evaluation
- Vasectomy surgery
- Selecting mice in estrus
- Male and female reproductive anatomy
Didactic Sessions Include:
- CRISPR-based mouse model development
- How to generate pseudopregnant females
- IVF (strain selection, superovulation, project planning and trouble shooting)
- Fundamentals of cryobiology
- Mouse reproductive anatomy
- Aseptic surgical techniques and biomethods
Why Attend? This in-person workshop offers a unique opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive and interactive environment, learning from experts at JAX. By the end, you will have the information and foundational skills necessary to implement these advanced techniques at your home institution.
Completion of the workshop may be used towards continuing education units for AALAS and Academy of Surgical Research (ASR) re-certification.
